26 Young People Benefit From YEI, in Collaboration With LEARN Career Awareness Program

The Youth Empowerment Initiatives (YEI) in collaboration with the Liberia Education & Advocacy Research Network (LEARN) conducted a one-day Career Awareness Program for 26 young people from schools, churches, youth groups, and communities in Monrovia. The program was held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Isaac David Memorial High School.  Participants at the Career Awareness Program were enlightened by six inspiring speakers presenting on different career areas. Speakers at the program were:
1. Dr. Kumblytee L. Johnson, Doctor, PREVAIL, C. H. Rannie Hospital;
2. Madam Florence Koroma, Dean of Teachers College, Stella Maris University;
3. Mr. Lawrence Sua, Zoe & Partners Law Firm and Graduating Senior, Lious Arthur Grimes School of Law; 
4. Cllr. Samuel Kpa-Sarto, Head of Legal Counsel, General Auditing Commission (GAC);
5. Madam Mae Azango, Award Winning Journalist, Front Page Africa;
6. Rev. Abraham P. Conneh, CEO of Liberia Education & Advocacy Research Network (LEARN).

Career areas considered were Medicine (Doctor), Teaching (Teacher), Law (Lawyer), Writing (Writer), and Journalism (Journalist).

Participants at the program expressed great appreciation for the opportunity afforded them to benefit from the Oenlightenment as a majority (20) of them said they have never ever attended a career awareness program before.  They appealed for the activities to be carried out in other communities across the country.  One of them remarked: "If majority of us here have never attended a career day program, what's about people in the rural area and schools.
